The Annals of Cardiothoracic Surgery (ACS) is now indexed by PubMed Central (PMC), an extensive and important biomedical online journal repository. Consequently, authors publishing in ACS will enjoy maximum exposure of their research. Acceptance in this prominent database within a year of the birth of ACS clearly speaks highly to the quality of the published work and the journal’s significant potential. ACS would like to express sincere appreciation for the enthusiastic and vigorous support and contributions from all authors and readers.

PMC is a web-based repository and retrieval system, managed by the National Center for Biotechnology Information at the U.S. National Library of Medicine. There is no doubt that indexing on PubMed Central will enhance the visibility of articles published in ACS, as abstracts and full articles will be more easily accessed by users. ACS strongly supports the PMC goal of open access and international collaboration, as this mirrors one of the fundamental goals of ACS.

ACS is a modern, open-access cardiothoracic journal which will continue to address the challenges and advances that are occurring in this evolving field of surgery. Each focused issue is overseen by eminent Guest Editors, who are backed up by an authoritative panel of Associate Editors and the Editorial Board. With the support from members of the editorial board, contributors and readers, ACS will continue to be a benchmark for premium-quality and pertinent research, as well as a platform to disseminate all aspects of contemporary issues and techniques in cardiothoracic surgery.
