Abstract

The hybrid arch frozen elephant trunk (FET) repair provides an attractive option to treat patients with extensive acute type A aortic dissection or intramural hematoma (IMH) with complex anatomy. Hybrid multibranched prostheses with distal endografts enable the reconstruction of the entire ascending aorta and arch with endovascular exclusion of the proximal descending aorta in a single-stage operation. We describe this approach and rationale for the hybrid arch FET technique in acute type A IMH and demonstrate the technique in a video presentation.
